Mary Buck - Photographer
Mary Buck knows her business. She has actually been in business since 1995 but has been studying photography since she was 18 years old. She decided to start a photography business in the mid 90's as a way to fulfill her creative passion. She immediately joined the Professional Photographers of America, where she learned the business of photography. She was enrolled in the Studio Management Program for four years and worked under the wings of Ann Monteith. Having Ann as a mentor taught Mary how to run a profitable business and to learn the essentials of pricing your work. She is no longer an SMS student however holds the coveted PPA Certification since 2003.
Mary lives in Duluth, Georgia (although is a native of Wisconsin). Her studio, Lightscapes Photographic Artwork, is conveniently located in Duluth, just 2 blocks from her house. She lives with her husband and best friend, Paul and her two children Brittany and Jonathan. She has two pets, Jazpur a Welsh Corgi and Snickers, a tabby kitty cat.
Mary is also involved as a volunteer with the Duluth Fine Arts League. She is the treasurer and chairperson for several of their committees including scholarships and photography contests. She also is founder of "In Your Heart Portraits" which is a charitable organization which offers free family portraits to the homeless.
Her favorite saying is "Don't cry because its over, smile because it happened." Life should be lived to the fullest so don't be afraid to try new things.
